Home Design - Green Architecture

When you consider green architecture, are you also considering living in harmony with the laws of energy? The most efficient structure is only a structure, not a home, if it doesn't contribute to your emotional and physical health and happiness.

Enroll now in a virtual seminar to design your home in harmony with universal energy.

VastuVed

VastuVed was founded by Michael Bordon Home Design in 1998 for the purpose of promoting Vastu Veda and educating designers, architects, builders and homeowners of the potential of a more comfortable, happy and successful life lived in harmoney through the principles of Vastu Veda.

Vastu Veda: Quest for Knowledge: 1994-1997

Through Michael's work and research during 1994 to 1997 he had become aware of a tradition of architecture that was supposed to be founded in basic principles of the laws of nature. During that time he had been commissioned to design two buildings that conformed to what his clients called Vastu Vedic Architecture. The project included unusual requirements such as specific materials and precise dimensions which had been generated through an analysis of the owners of the home. In other words, the home was literally tailored to their physiology and psychology.

He was very interested in understanding the principles of design and the philosophy behind the design and began a search for information about Sthapatya Vedic Architecture. His review of ancient Indian literature and modern writings yielded some confusion, and he realized that he needed to find a teacher. A weekend seminar by an Indian designer also yielded no nuts and bolts. Finally, he learned of Dr. V. Ganapati Sthapati of Madras, India who, coincidentally, was to visit a midwest project site, a temple, and he hastened to make an appointment to meet him.

Architecture: Frozen Music

As he was ushered into meet Sthapati he noticed that the Indian workers that were building the temple treated Sthapati with utmost respect. Their interview lasted about one hour. Michael showed Sthapati his house designs and he chuckled as he critiqued them. He said that architecture was frozen music and that a building could be an expression of pleasant and powerful harmonies. He made sketches on Michael's drawings, mentioning something called a Vastu Purusha Mandala. He spoke of the possibility of a building being a coherence generator, tuning the occupants to the laws of the universe and increasing health, wealth and spiritual well being. He said that a building was a living organism, like the human nervous system, and could be designed in harmonic resonance with the basic underlying energy structure of the universe.

But more than his words -- his presence, his confidence, his enthusiasm and love of his art -- told Michael that he was a man who lived Truth. At the end of the meeting Michael asked Sthapati if he could come to India and study with him. Sthapati seemed a bit surprised actually, but welcomed Michael to come, and Michael arranged to be able to stay in Madras for six weeks of study.

Vastu Veda: Training in India: 1998

In February and March of 1998 Michael traveled to Madras, India, to study the principles of Vastu Science under Sthapati. Two or three times a week Sthapati met with him for most of the morning. We began by laying down the foundational philosophy of Vastu Science. Next, we went into the application of the philosophy in Art and Architecture. Michael designed buildings, residential at first, and then commercial, that would conform to the general rules of the science. When Michael left India Sthapati told him that he had mastered the basic rules of Vastu design and that he should design these buildings in the U.S.

They made an agreement to come together again in 1999 for three months so Michael could further his understanding by studying the specifics of temple design. This will be in September of 1999. At that time we will be offering an online virtual seminar
